Coogee to Bondi Beach Coastal Walk

Venture down to Coogee Beach and experience the Coogee to Bondi coastal walk. As you make your way up the coast, you will find nearby Gordon’s Bay which has brilliant snorkelling trails and rich marine life. This cliff top coastal walk extends all the way to Bondi, for six kilometres in Sydney’s eastern suburbs where you can visit Clovelly Beach, Bronte Beach, Tamarama along the way. The walk features stunning views, beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools.

The History of Coogee Beach

Coogee Beach is one of the oldest beachside towns in Australia. Part of Randwick City Council and only a short way from the Sydney CBD. Coogee was taken from the Aboriginal word “koojah” meaning “smelly place” due to decaying seaweed that was originally found there.

But not anymore!

Coogee became a village in 1838 but transformed into a seaside paradise in 1902 once it connected to the electric tram line leading to and from Sydney. Coogee Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907 and became a pioneer Australian lifesaving club.

You’ll find remnants of Coogee’s colourful history along the coastline and beyond, stretching throughout Randwick. The Lurline itself was originally the Randwick Post Office.

Coogee Beach has certainly come a long way from its “smelly” past and remains one of the most popular beaches in Australia.

Beautifully unexpected boutique hotel, loved it!

What a find! This property is stunning and I definitely didn’t expect how beautiful it was. I stayed in the heritage room which was large in size and had a king bed, en-suite and gorgeous French style doors opening onto a cute verandah. I will definitely stay here again and was disappointed my trip was only for one day!

A comfortable, friendly and extremely hospitable experience.

Thank you very much to all the staff from Paul and Frank at the front desk, to the wonderful cleaning ladies and gentleman. It was an absolute pleasure staying with you over the last couple of months.

Cleanliness of the rooms was wonderful, along with the shower products in pump packs, the use of the communal kitchen and courtyard an absolute bonus. The kitchen was kept stocked with tea and coffee supplies and meticulously clean each day. I found the staff to always be very friendly and accomodating in every way and took a real pride in their work.

The location of the Lurline with bus and light rail on the doorstep was a bonus. Also access to 22grams for breakfast, the supermarkets, many shops, restaurants and the local Ritz was also fantastic. Will be happy to book my next stay when back in the Eastern suburbs. Congratulations to you all and thank you. Thank you once again and keep doing what you are doing. Couldn’t ask for more attention to detail.

Boutique hidden away elegance!

Great place for a boutique romantic stay in an elegantly refurbished hotel. Close to all amenities and can walk to the beach, but you’re still close enough to the city. Friendly staff and hotel has all necessary amenities and beautiful high value toiletries stood out.

Excellent!

On arrival you are met by an experienced person who is warm and friendly. The rooms are well maintained and certainly spotless! My reason for staying at the Lurline is that it is only minutes to the shops, restaurants, Children’s hospital and the Light Rail network that takes less than half an hour to get into the centre of Sydney.

We’re very impressed with the look (both interior and exterior). It’s very neat and well-presented. The location is just perfect–close to Sydney CBD, Bondi Beach and just walking distance to Coogee Beach.

Accommodating and Comfortable

The hotel is beautiful with old world charm touches but modern amenities to use. If we were short of anything or anything needed to be looked at, the staff were onto it the same day! This was an emotional trip for us but the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were ok. The noise from the city was hardly noticeable and parking was easy to find close to the hotel!

Amazing

Great stay, very comfortable too many close to shops and transport. Reception were super helpful and friendly. Thanks!
